A six night adventure in Morocco with two nights in Marrakech and four nights trekking to summit Ighil M'goun 4068m. This is an exciting personal challenge for 2012 and a strenuous trek due to its height above 4000m and relative remoteness in the High Atlas. Three hours and ten minutes flight time – and be ready to enjoy a personal challenge and trek on a journey through new lands and a cultural experience that will enthral and enchant. The Kingdom of Morocco offers relatively easy access from the UK to true trekking adventures in the Atlas Mountains. The High Atlas is a stunning mountain range, and the mix of Berber and Arab life has a unique appeal. Our M’Goun summit trek is short but challenging, taking us up the second highest peak in The Atlas Mountains and to the valleys around it. This area is remote and breathtaking in every sense, offering stunning views and spectacular gorges and rivers. With the assistance of our English speaking guide we will enjoy the culture, the people and a route through high passes. Summit day - our big day out - offers immense vistas from the very summit of Ighil M’goun. As on our previous expedition to Morocco this trek is not technically supported – we participate on the basis of responsible adults as defined in our Club Experience membership information but, as always in our group, we do encourage and support each other. The costs do not include flights, which should be booked independently. We will recommend best value flights available at the time to ensure a coordinated arrival in Marrakech. You can, of course, add extra days to the start and end of the trip if you wish. You will also need adequate insurance cover – the BMC (British Mountaineering Council) offer some excellent advice. This is a fabulous opportunity to summit a 4000m mountain and see the sights and hear the sounds of Marrakesh city and enjoy traditional food, music on our final evening’s celebration dinner. | ||
